Having spoken a few times to the wonderful support staff at Stopitnow, has anyone completed the INFORM course please. Did you benefit from it, and did you feel it was worthwhile? I'd appreciate anyone who has taken parts input
I have completed HALF the course - and have the folder of information and resources. Really valuable and goes a long way towards helping one understand WHY offenders go down the path of looking at IIOC. It has been instrumental in helping mend the trust in my relationship with my husband and in forgiving him. He just needs to forgive himself now.
Thank you both for your replies. It's my son involved, so I maybe am in a different place, would you say it was beneficial in helping you support your partners, as I would love to do that to my son, however his embarrassment and shame make conversations difficult when it's your son, if you know what I mean .
I completed half the course prior to lockdown & hope to complete the rest of it soon. The sessions I attended I found really beneficial in helping me try to gain an understanding of why these things happen. I have also shown what has been covered in the sessions to my husband which has opened up more discussions between us in relation to this offence.
If you can attend it then please do. I found it so helpful & therapeutic meeting others in a similar situation as myself who also understood me & my feelings. I have found that those who are lucky enough not to experience this tend not to understand & offer very biased opinions on what they think you should be thinking & feeling which can may you feel even more alone & isolated. This in turn made me question myself as a person. Meeting the other women on the course helped me realise I am not alone & am 'normal'.for thinking & feeling the way I do x x
