As you say no two cases are the same so it should be directed to a lawyer really. Just don't want to get your hopes up if that makes sense.

Typically the charges come a few weeks after the second interview and court hearwirhin the month I would say. In the meantime would be best to get character references done by friends and family in advance to help the defence. There are resources online on how to structure them. Also they can request a call log from Lucy faithful if they have used them in the past to show efforts to seek help.

Thanks for your reply solicitor seems to think nfa. But due to the 4 cat A ( apparently estimated at 15 years) the police want to persue with cps ? At a loss but guess were luck as it's within 7 months not years lime some others I've read on here. Character refrences would be difficult as as it stands only In house knows x

My husband had his 2nd interview 4 weeks ago and was charged yesterday. We were under the impression from his solicitor that he would probably get a caution so it came as a bit of a shock. He has to appear in court in a month and has been charged with viewing 4 images and sending one of these to someone else. Just a one off offence too but it's changed our lives forever.
Now petrified at the thought of this being in the media and the impact of this on our children. What a sad horrible mess.
On a positive note this has only being going on for 3 months so compared to lots on this forum it's all happened very quickly it seems.

From what I've learnt, they sentence on the worst category. My hubby had 2 x cat a, 20 x cat b, 200 cat c, he was sentenced 2 weeks ago. The judge explained cat a starts with a 12 month sentence, this is reduced pending on mitigating circumstance. He had a porn addiction following drugs/alchohol from a young age. He has spent 16 months in private therapy since the knock, and due to his acceptance and willingness to address his behavior, this is what he got... 5 years SOR, 5 years SHPO, 3 year community order which is 30 hrs rehabilitation, and the horizon course to do. It sounds harsh but he never wants to reoffend, he also wants to break the cycle of addiction he has had throughout his life so hoping the course will help with this.

Thank you all for your replys. My son is 18 first offence never been in trouble with the police. Has a full time job and is going to uni in September ( hopefully).

He admitted everything on the day if the knock and at second interview they told him what they had found 4 cat A ( believed to be 14 or over) not that that makes it ok and 7 cat C laptop was clear of anything these were found on his phone.

I've tried to contact his solicitor many times to no avail as yet and all the police have said is the case will be sent to cps for a decision.

Just to give you a some hope with what your son's solicitor has said -

My husband was found to have images/video clips of all categories.

His case was also sent to the CPS and came back NFA even though he had car A and B's.

The reason for NFA was - first offence, all images were receievd within a tight timescale, full time job, had admitted fault straight away, was under therapy for addiction and showing signs he wanted to change and he was deemed 'young with a family to protect.'

I really hope your son hears from the police soon regarding the CPS decision.

I find it mind blowing just how different the outcomes are for these offences. It certainly isn't a one size fits.
