Hi there
I did one for my partner. His solicitor have him a template but I think there are examples online.
From memory the structure for my one was an explanation about me in general (what I do for a living, how I know my partner etc).
Then I disclosed when I found out about his offences and my understanding of what he was charged with (doesn't have to be in great detail just to show you are not in the dark). And my personal experience of witnessing his efforts to rehabilitate.
The letter is not to be used to justify why you think your husband deserves as a sentence. It will not help their case if you go down that route. I think it helps to show they have support and more evidence of remose.
Hope that helps

The edit function doesn't seem to work. Meant to say the statement isn't to say what sentence you think your husband should get. It's to be a statement of character
Thanks for that I'll ask his solicitor for a template, was the outcome what you expected?

We prepared for the worst (prison) and hoped for the best. We were messed about a bit with court dates being changed at the last minute because they didn't have the correct information and judge didn't know enough about the case.
Make sure the solicitor has the statements as soon as possible and just before the hearing ask if they have sent it over. Ours left it to the last minute. So I'm not sure how much of the statements helped.
My partner got two years suspended, 10 years on the register and SHPO. 200 hours community service to be done in two years also. He had all the categories and I guess an online contact offence. He masqueraded as a younger person to get attention from anyone.

Thankyou so much for your response, we are expecting prison but obviously hoping for suspended, his charges sound very similar to your husbands, I need to get my letter in quick then because his sentencing is next week, he's asking his solicitor for a template today
