Unlock.org are helpful with getting advice on this aspect. They feature advice on what has to be disclosed and I think a register of employers who give those with convictions a chance.

One thing I will add is that convictions do not need to be disclosed unless asked by a potential employer when job hunting. Best to check the SHPO to confirm since it might differ to my partners. He got a well paid job as a an engineer with a small firm who never did a check on him.

Probation support was limited to offering CV writing courses or learning a skill. There is some hope but it is hard work and may take a while to find something. But have to be looking to get with a chance of finding something your son can hopefully be happy with.

Nonna,

That souns great for your son, I'm happy for him!

What is he doing an apprenticeship in may I ask, and will he have a job with his employer after he finishes?

I'd love for my son to become an electrician/plumber or something of the sorts, but since would have to be going into people's homes, that would restrict the vast majority of work for him. I've also been asking around and apparantely if word gets out on a construction site or something, he would be bullied out and replaced fairly quickly.

I don't want him to spend thousands and years training just to not be able to find any work. That would be a kick right in the face.

He was attending a prestigious university on a fantastic course when it all happened, his life is in tatters now and I don't know what to do. He was lined up to have such a bright future and it all crashed down.

xx
