As some of you know my son was arrested in January for iioc.

He had a second interview 2 weeks ago where 4 cat A and 7 cat C were found on his phone and was told to await the cps decision.

So today o get a call to say he is getting a caution 2 years on the sex offenders register and restrictions in place for 6 months which will be explained to myself and my son on Monday.

Now although I'm relieved we do not have to go through court etc and worry about the media etc I'm still confused as to what the future holds as he is supposed to be starring uni in September he currenrl9has a full time job and now wonder if he has to disclose the fact he is going to be on the register my mind is a mess all over again any help or advice would be appreciated x

Depending on the job your son has your son may not have to disclose. My partner didn't when he was sentenced die to no involvement with kids. Tho best to check with the police officer who will be 'managing' him whilst he is on the register. Any background checks will flag he is on the register I believe.

Also best to see how it might impact on uni. Unlock.org I think has info on this matter. They are also a good source for info post conviction.

Hi hun. Think I can put your mind at ease. Pretty much next to impossible that your son will be in the media now that he's got a caution. And this whole situation should now be spent by the time he finishes uni in 3 plus years so unless he is trying to get a job with vulnerable people he will almost never need to disclose it. Hope this helps. Can I ask how old your son is or was.

Dependant on what job/career he wants it may require an enhanced disclosure (DBS) this is not just for people who work with vulnerable people/children. Many employers use this. Including any that do any work for the mod/nhs or other state services. Maybe have a look at the type of job he wants to do then look at thier job applications online and see if they require an enhanced dbs not just basic X out of interest you say he was told he was getting a caution I thought you have to be offered on and you choose to accept or not? Sorry if I've misunderstood x lots of love hopefully now is the time you can all start rebuilding yourselves xx

He was 17 at the time of offence and 18 at time of arrest, I was told via phone he would be being offered a caution 2 years on the sor and 6 months of restrictions ( I will be finding out all exact details tommorow) I'm not sure what I should be feeling as feel it will never be over I've been on tenter hooks since January and the knock and tommorow is hopefully the final chapter xx I'll message once I've had meeting tommorow xx

Aside from an NFA that is probably one of the best outcomes people can hope to get in this situation. It saves you going through court and media process. If he has admitted guilt to you and the evidence is clear and dry I think many people would recommend you take it but of course, always get your own legal advice. Can I ask how long this has taken from start to finish?
