Address of offence

Hi everyone
i just wondered for those that have been thro the court system, when they read out the address of the offender, do they read out the address where the offence was committed if it is different to where they are living now? in my partners case communicating with a minor whilst he lived at home but now he has a new address so I just wondered which one they will read out.
Hope this makes sense!
thanks in advance

Hi Mabel
I have been advised that the defendant is asked by court staff to state on the day where they spent the previous night and that is taken as their address when it is said in court. This is because so many men no longer reside at the address where the police initially contacted them in relation to the offence.

Hi
im in Scotland so not sure if rules are the same. In my sons case it was the original address of where he was arrested that was read out even although the court had his current address. In our case, this was a good thing as nobody knew about it in my sons new area x

At my partner's sentencing I do not remember them saying our address, just where he was arrested. They did make an initial boo boo by saying at first the arresting address was where he still lived. They had the paper work wrong and a few other details were not right so had to postpone his sentencing for a few weeks. Was very annoying. Ofc the solicitors are meant to do their job well but they can still make mistakes. So I recommend before day of sentencing ask that the details are up to date.
In my ex-husband's case the only address mentioned in court was that of the BnB near the court he had spent the previous night at. Because he had to travel for his court appearance. So that was a relief. I would say it's worth the cost of an overnight stay somewhere to protect the address of the offender's family.
