Plea hearing

As this is completely out of my league and I'm sure all of yours can someone kindly explain to me what will happen at the plea hearing.
I understand it will be not guilty or a guilty plea
If not guilty plea is given a trial will follow.
If a guilty plea is given then will sentencing happen there and then or will that be at a future date?
If so how long will that be is that a standard amount of time?
Can I attend the court?
I have no idea how this works apart from the absolute torture of the drag out of this whole nightmare.
How do we get through this aye?
This is on myind 24/7 and it wasn't even my crime. I just feel so alone and at a loss tonight x

Hey Yazz
I can't answer all your questions but wanted to respond anyway.
From what I've read on here and others say... The plea hearing will be at the magistrates court. Then usually the crown court case for sentencing will be around a month later.
As far as I am aware you can attend either. However... There could be some restrictions due to lockdown dependent on your location etc. Maybe look up your local courts current procuredure. Could you ask to speak with your partners solicitor with him? It sounds like you want to understand as much as possible xxx

My son has a plea hearing later this month, does qnyone know what the sentencing could be as he has been advused by his barrister to pleas guilty for a lesser sentence.
Hi jb72 thanks for your reply. I'm in two minds whether I can face going. But I want the truth.
Hi fatso
Thanks for also replying. When pleading guilty I'm led to believe you gain a 25percent leaniancy for the case nor going to trial. This works in both favours as it saves the taxpayer money and it gives the accused the lesser punishment if that makes sense. Anyone who can correct me if I'm wrong please correct me. In my partners case he's going down the guilty route as he can't prove his innocence and he couldn't cope with the full sentence or the trial.
Best wishes

My husband is going to plead guilty, does anyone know the potential outcome/sentence for possession of images catergory AB and C ?
Hi
My hb pleaded guilty this week to less than 50 images evenly spread across the 3 cats. His solicitor told him that although he could get a 1yr prison sentence by pleading guilty and due to the relatively low number he would probably get a suspended sentence of up to 2 years and community service. He was put on the SOR as soon as he pleaded guilty for a minimum of 1 year which could be extended once he has been sentenced. He has been assigned a Probation Officer who will talk to him before sentencing, which is next month, and a report on him will be submitted to the judge to help them determine the sentence. Sentences vary greatly so let's hope the solicitor is right on this occasion.
Good luck.

Hi Izzy thanks for your response. How are things since his plea? Have they said how long you'll wait for the sentencing?
In his case plea is January then I'm not sure how long until sentence. I'm just dreading it. I'm praying no media coverage.
Sending love xxx

Hi Yazznan
The date at Crown Court is exactly 4 weeks after the plea hearinig at the Magistrates court. From what I have read the date must be 4 - 6 weeks after the guilty plea or sooner. Legal fees are starting to pile up but I think it is worth it so that the man feels he has someone with him who understands what is going on and can ensure he is treated fairly.
Hoping your partner's case is dealt with quickly in the New Year. We are now 20 months post knock!
