Hi Rainbow

i understand from other ladies that the shopo has written conditions. If it does not mention unsupervised with children then there is likely not to be restrictions. However, if he's on the register it's automatic no unsupervised with under eighteen years old. If he's on the register then I don't think he will be allowed unsupervised contact. Hope that helps x

Hello Rainbow,

I'm not sure about SOR restrictions but I spoke the the helpline about SHPO and they told me that one of their clients solicitors challenged the no unsupervised contact things because he was a dad. It was lifted. I too sincerely hope my husband can be on his own with his boys again before they are adults. It's so sad because most of us know there's 100% no risk to their own or any other children!! Xx

Thank you. So really the register contradicts the order. What's the point in the order as all will be on the register so in theory no one on this would be able to have unsupervised?

Hi again.

i think they have the shopo because the register does not allow them to add things onto the register. They can't check your devices without good cause if your only on the register. The register also can't stop you going to parks etc but a shopo can. I've a little experience of this because of my son. His social worker had to do a home visit for when he comes home from prison. I asked lots of questions. She basically said they could check my sons devices if he's on parole or on a shopo but not if he's just on the register. She basically told me to count myself lucky that my son did not get a shopo as he would have more restrictions had he got a shopo.

i don't agree with having to be on both of them. In the end your right it's very contradictory because one piece of paper mentiondps nothing about no unsupervised but the other does mention it.god knows what the criteria is to get a shopo. My son got the register but not the shopo . Solicitor said it was because it was his first offence but I don't believe that because I've seen people on here where their husband/partner / dad or son has been given a shopo on a first offence. In fact most people on this site will tell you that with the exception of the very odd one, it's all first time offenders. I cannot work out the criteria at all. Did your husband get the shopo on the day of sentence or at a later date? I ask because I'm told that the police can apply for it after you've been convicted x
