My partner has his first court date (pleading one) on Wednesday. Hes a first time offender has done the Lucy faithful course etc. his lawyer says it's very unlikely but he could be remanded for 4/6 weeks until his sentencing I don't know how his mother or I would cope with this. Just looking to see how many of your partners etc got remanded as I'm totally dreading it

What are the charges since that might make a difference. My partner was never warned of remanding, we are in England and I know Scotland can be different. My partner throughout was allowed at home, I guess not seen as a flight risk.

Hi Christine

my partner was remanded straight after his arrest. I'm not sure what your partner has done but I think it all depends on what they've done and wether he's a risk to himself and others. I came home from seeing a friend and he'd been arrested, it was like he left without saying goodbye. He'd been talking sexually on a chatroom to someone who said they were underage, and arranged to meet it was a police decoy. I think the reason he wasn't granted bail was he'd tried/threatened to commit suicide in police custody and something about tampering with witnesses even though it was the police!!
His case seemed to be rushed through though he was arrested and charged on remand in February/ March by April he'd been sentenced.
If there's a chance your partner will be remanded make sure he knows phone numbers and addresses that he'll need for yourself and family, not sure if he can take anything in with him like a notebook with them wrote down. Also clothes if I remember rightly you only have so long to take him clothes in, his solicitor should be able to tell you all this though.
Hope everything goes ok for you x
