Offer of work then taken away

So h/b went for a job interview, informed them he had a criminal conviction but didn't go into the details (iioc) employer appreciated his honesty.
Was offered the job, depending on DBS checks, h/b informed them of the charge. Job immediately retracted.
His PO is a waste of time, just telling him to contact the job centre. Where does he go from here, what jobs can he go for??

Same thing happened to my partner but not all jobs do a DBS check or request conviction info. He got a role in engineering similar to his previous job before the knock. Just have to keep looking and see if there are businesses that agree to take on those with convictions
