Hi

Yesterday I listened to a play about the impact on a teacher when a close colleague was arrested and found guilty ot iioc crimes. It changed her whole perception of life and, as we all know thorugh experience, made her doubt her own judgement. She used alcohol as a coping mechanism. She also became obsessed with her own ability to protect her children. Although not perfect I thought it was good that this topic had been covered in this way.

Nevertheless, it saddened and disappointed me that at the end of the play the BBC did not mention sources of support available for others in similar situations. usually the announcement started 'If you have been effected..'. But nothing came.

I am sure the play is still on iplayer and BBC sounds if anyone is interested. I think it was called 'Safe from Harm'.

Best wishes to all

Izzy

Hello Izzy

Thank you for sharing this information on the Family and Friends forum. We have noticed that you have not yet received a response to this post. It is positive to hear that you have been able to access resources which you can relate to. It is disappointing that no sources of support followed this play, as it is important for people to be aware of the support that is available to them. I want to thank you for taking the time to share this information with other forum users, as they may also be interested in accessing this, or just interested to know that it exists.

Take care,

Lucy

Belatedly! Thank you, Izzy, for the information about the "Safe from Harm" play. I'll make sure I look that up. And report back . . . .

I'd love to see more discussion and transparency on BBC and other forms of Media about Sex Offending in whatever form. As with so many other "taboo topics", I feel that bringing them gently and respectfully into the public domain via plays, poetry, debate etc would educate society (in the use of correct terminology, re signs of abuse, danger zones etc) AND get rid of the "elephant in the room".

As Lucy says, interesting that 2 months later I am the first person to respond.

Hopefully I'll not be the last.

Thanks again.
