It's been a bit quiet on here lately, just wondered if there were others whose partners have been convicted for viewing images.

Sorry to hear your on this group none of us want to be here :(

My dad had the knock last year turned out he had viewed images while dealing with a adult porn addiction, had just disregarding the images/videos and didn't think to report

He's just had his court summons so I'm assuming that means he will be convicted

Not much advice as I'm struggling x

I'm sorry to hear that. Sounds like a similar case to mine. Husband had been on a legal site and clicked on links that didnt even say what it was. Evidence showed only viewed over 5 days. Yes I know that bad enough but I feel the court were still harsh especially as no evidence of searching etc. I'm still bitter about it all and will never get over it. I've read that some people's cases get dismissed for viewing thousands so how is that fair. Mind you I dont know if that's true.

Try and take care, I know it's easy to say. When is the court date? What evidence has the cps got?

Yes definitely sounds similar to our case, I don't live at home anymore but it's taking it toll I'm also pregnant which is hard at the moment!

Yes I know what you mean I don't know how some cases don't go further but some do

The court case is in 1/2 months I believe I've found it hard to speak to my parents about it since finding out he has received the letter

They seized his tablet and I believe they could see he had been on a legal site and clicked on links which he thought was legal, I'm not sure how many don't think it was alot - but I believe it still counts because the footprint is still left behind, its so shit that all of these cases seem to be treat the same - you are classed as a sex offender whether it was accidental or not but I don't know ????

How far along in the process are you?

He's nearly finished his community order but still has 3 years on the register. I understand what has happened why it is a crime but I dont get how some sentences are harsher or similar to those people that have viewed for years. I get that it's the same etc and he still looked but it should go on the length and amount of times too. Each judge and court are different which is unfair. I hope he gets the best outcome possible x

Hi

My husband was found with a memory stick of indecent images, the forensics are looking at them, not sure what happens next.

Regards

It could take months (if not over a year or two) for the investigation to conclude with charges (if confirmed evidence was found).

Then charges are set, goes to plea hearing and the sentencing. If pleading not guilty it goes to trial.

It can be a long road tbh. In the meantime the offender should look to do rehabilitation, they won't get support with them trying to get it themselves.

Thank you Majestictopaz.

God didn't know it took that long, I am currently going through a divorce and may need to sell house, so hoping to do this before charges so I can distance us and change my name. As he doesn't live with me any more so not sure whether he is getting help or not.
