Risk Assessments

Hello,
I've seen a few mentions of private risk assessments for iioc offenders on here. There's absolutely no way I can afford the price quoted by LFF. Are there any other ways of obtaining one? I know they won't be free but I wasn't expecting it to be so expensive! Maybe I'm naive. I really would like more than a probation report for him.

We are in the same boat. Unfortunately we had hoped the probation assessment would be suitable for family courts but it seems CAFCASS don't really understand how the risk assessment is assessed. Basically they see 'medium risk to children' and now back stepping on support for my partner to have supervised visitation rights at a contact centre. His risk isn't low yet because he hasn't gone through probation long enough for them to confirm.
And yes the LFF quote was high, even at a discount (small discount tho). My partner's probation officer is look for contacts and I'm trying to get my partner to do his own research. Basically if he doesn't get a private assessment he is very unlikely now to be able to see his kids in any way.
I guess it depends on the purpose of the assessment really. If it is for therapy reasons maybe there is something on the NHS but the queue will be super long. For legal reasons it has to be private.
When my partner first looked in private assessments the wait or length of time to do one was months- LFF I believe said the assessment is done over 10 sessions? So that is something to consider.

Thanks Lee for the tips. It is very frustrating at the moment that CAFCASS have been too vague on what they are looking for. My partner will try to chase them for something more definitive. SW haven't been in touch at all over the family court case. Not sure if approaching them will open another can of worms.
Does anyone know if mental health services can do such risk assessments? We have a mental health facility nearby that provide private phycologists.with covid it is tricky to arrange face to face appointments.hopi g we can find something local for when restrictions are reduced

Thanks for the replies.
He is still under investigation and we don't have any social care input currently (have been through the icpc process and we were put on a CIN plan for 2 months then closed). He will be charged/cautioned (unlikely I know) for something as he's admitted the offence.
I want to be prepared as possible for any future outcome (courts, social care, family court). I just don't want to get to the point of charge and be on the back foot again.
I've contacted his solicitor to see if it would be something that could be included in any court appearances (alongside character references etc).
It seems the justice system is set up to fail for those who can not afford these such privileges. We're by no means on the bread line, just don't have a huge pot of savings or lots of disposable income.
I'll look into these suggestions.
Thanks

Thanks.
Maybe I am jumping the gun a bit. I'm trying to prepare for the worst. I guess it's about not being in control also! I read so many stories of people struggling with contact etc after conviction I just want to have everything I can ready to support my children's relationship with their dad.
I'll research the person you've suggested and get ready for when the inevitable happens.
