Has anyone been in the situation where their solicitor has told them to go 'not guilty' at the plea hearing?

Partner is adament he's innocent has been all all along, it's been 14 months since the knock. Solicitor has reviewed evidence and said he believes he should plead not guilty but I realise this is one hell of a risk as if then found guilty he will receive its a harsher sentence.

Scary times at the moment but so close to the end of this nightmare.

Hi

I myself told my husband to plead guilty even though he said he was innocent, but I didn't tell him to plead guilty because I believed that he was,I told him to plead guilty because it spared him a trial by jury and it saved time and it saved money..

Ive always believed he was innocent and him pleading guilty didn't make me think any less of him..I dnt know if him pleading guilty had any impact on the sentence he received, but I believe it showed that he was remorseful and that he'd made a stupid stupid mistake

Based on the evidence the solicitor has received I believe he is innocent too. There's lots of things that suggest to me he is innocent and many defences that go for him. I was shocked the CPS has actually charged.

Just always a worry when you could go before a jury and lose but obviously there is a chance he could win. I don't blame him for fighting it especially when the solicitor has encouraged him to fight it.

Plus the financial impact will be massive, especially if he fights it and loses.

I feel it's really important that if you are not guilty of a crime then you don't say you are guilty. The barrister would suggest a plea but with the caveat of don't plead guilty to a crime you didn't commit.

Many a times it would be easier and quicker to say guilty and get it done and dusted but it never is being convicted of these crimes will not be over quickly especially those with children. Yes if you don't get legal aid things may get expensive but is your freedom from this worth fighting for. The chance to have children unsupervised continue with your career and provide for family I'm not saying you can't get a job but I bet it's blooming difficult.

You do run the risk of being found guilty at trial and receiving a harsher sentence and the general public frown upon these crimes but equally I think it gives the men a fair shot of explaining thier actions with ALL evidence laid out not snippets the police choose to use.

I really hope everything goes as well as can be expected do you have any dates yet?

He has been charged with possession of 2 class A and 2 class C images.

He had a duty solicitor in the voluntary interview who basically didn't have a clue what he was talking about, the new solicitor is specialised in the subject hence the expensive costs.

The plea hearing is in 2 days and he has been given advice today so not much time to deliberate about it. When would he speak to the barrister? Obviously the solicitor will have a summary of the evidence and has made the decision from that.
