Angry!!

So my ex's pleading date is next Wednesday it's been a year and 5 months since the knock, he says he's pleading guilty but they don't sentance that day? They then have to wait again to get sentenced whilst they get background reports etc? So why has it taken so long and what have they been doing all this time?! Why has it taken nearly a year and a half if they haven't gotten the reports ready etc to say I'm angry is an understatement
How long does it typically take from plea to sentencing?
Is there any way i can get to know exactly what the charges are/how many, the seriousness etc
I only found that information out when I read it in the paper/online.
I only knew he was charged and due to appear in court because social services told me.
2.5 years since the day he was questioned.

Hi Christine, as he is your ex, I guess he isn't disclosing to you what he has been charged with. On the day of his court appearance, you can phone the court and ask them to tell you what the charges were. The court is open to the public but Covid is preventing people from actually going so there should be no issue with a clerk at the court telling you what happened in the court room. They should also tell you what he pleads and if there are any bail conditions. They will also likely be able to tell you when the next hearing is set for if it is discussed in court.
Hope that helps.

Hi Christine
In my case I was exactly like you, unsure of what his charges were. He had given me his version of events which didn't stack up in my mind. I felt he was lying. I went down the Claire law route and through the right to know I was able before the court case find out exactly what his charges were. This enabled me to get out of this situation armed with the knowledge of who he actually was and what he had done. He also pleased guilty and 4 weeks later he was sentenced. I telephoned the court the following morning. I had to explain my relationship to the offender and the clerk said say no more and she briefly outlined what his sentence was. She outlined some of his bail conditions and then she went on to say there are some things I am not allowed to disclose. I often wonder to myself what those are. I also had the horror of the media and everyone in my life reading it and seeing his photograph in the paper. I found stuff out in more detail from the article than what the police told me.
It is shocking the length of time this all takes to come to the court. How are you feeling now since you left him? It made me ill for a few weeks with the aftermath of the media, but I'm slowly starting to pick myself up, and I'm not waking up with it hitting my thoughts as soon as I wake up. Hope your okay love, stay strong, the end is almost near xxxxx

I'm feeling calm. Ready for it all to be over. I didn't know I could phone the court? Do I just explain that I'm his ex fiancé? I don't know what to say to them. I only want to know the charges
He will have to register within 3 days even before sentencing? I don't think he knows this and his solicitor is useless. Will they check to make sure he has
Also I don't know if Claire's law applies to Scotland
How come he has to register on it before being sentenced
I have told him he has to register within 3 days. He won't believe me tho and won't do it he's not interested in finding out info about it or what he needs to do etc
Regarding the SOR. My partner asked if he needed to register after the plea hearing but was told to wait until sentencing. So I guess it is case by case basis. They told my partner it would be difficult to register before being told by a judge because the police need to know how long he would be on the register, and that wasn't confirmed until the sentencing.
Hi Christine, he will have to sign the sor within 3 days of pleading guilty. That is the normal procedure. Unfortunately as you are no longer together, you won't be told anything by the police. You will have to wait. Yes phone the court clerk and explain who you are and who he is, and it's in public interest after court so they can tell you the outcome of his charges and sentence.
Hi Lee, im unable to disclose how I got my Claires law unfortunately. I feel very fortunate I was given it. Your right it would be Sarah's law.

I've been in contact with him today. I don't see myself getting closure. He said he'd tell me then said he wouldn't tell me details as his case is coming up & he doesn't want it getting out also excuse of not wanting to tell me due to me potentially telling my sister who lives 40 miles away where no one knows him. What he's forgetting is it might go to papers anyway. He just wants to keep me hanging on and it's unfair after a year and 5 months. I'm never going to get closure
I want to know the amount of charges. The categories how much in each etc but I doubt the court here will tell me as isn't it confidential
Phoned the court and they advised me to phone pf?
