Hi I am in a very dark place at the moment we received the dreaded knock at the door in feb 2019 and my son was charged this feb with downloading and distributing images on a 3 categories this was a very stupid mistake which has landed him in very hot water myself and partner feel we are being charged too life has just died for us he went to magistrates and it has been passed straight to crown court my son thought he was doing something good after being abused at 6 years old he is constantly talking about ending his life but wont get help it doesnt matter how old they are as a mother they are always your baby and u try to protect them. Just dont know what to do or what to expect we feel like our world has well n truly ended.
Hi Woody2010, I am so sorry you find yourself here. There are other parents on the forum and I am sure they will be along to offer support. I think we all understand though the feelings and pain your are going through. Also i am so sorry that your son himself suffered abuse, again there are parents in a similar position. Have a read through old posts, you will find many stories.
This crime is so destructive to everyone close to the perpetrator. It really is a life changing event. All we can do is the best we can, and seek as much help and support as we can. It is important to look after yourself, so you have the energy to look after your son. And yes, it seems we are all punished, as there is little acknowledgment or help for families, although that looks like it may change in the future. A lot of people are currently involved in studies that will help shape future support.
There are so so many people in this position. Sadly the justice system has not caught up with the technology based crimes, I hope one day it will, and more will be done to help rather than punish.

this is very similar to my son . He's been raped and then went on a dating site . Ended up talking to a paedophille . My son thought he would try and catch him x he's ended up in a whole load of trouble and a jury didn't believe him x we've had two years of hell. I'm here if you need to talk x

Hi guys thanks for your reply we feel like we are living in someone else's nightmare not knowing if he will go to prison repercussions within the community I am having surgery the day before he is in court and terrified he might hurt himself. Scrappy what happened to your son I feel as if my heart is breaking and will never be the same does it get any easier or do we live with this nightmare for the rest of our lives. How do you move forward from this.
