8 days and my son is in court absolutely feeling numb and sick to the stomach my partner is waking up with panic attacks terrified that our lovely boy who wouldnt hurt a hair on anyones head will go to prison for what he thought at the the time was him trying to catch people who hurt children. I feel so low and feel I dont want to carry on worried about the outcome and backlash from the media worried we will have to move after finally finding somewhere to call home after 29 private houses really at rock bottom.

I'm so sorry Woody2010, it's a horrid feeling. And all so unpredictable. Thinking of you. xx

There's so little you can control in this. Whether it gets reported is the luck of the draw, as is the length of any sentence. I would recommend that your son looks very carefully at the information that is available about him online. It makes it more of a story if they can find an image of him, and information about his work. He should also ask if his solicitor is mentioning about his work life if they can be vague about the place of work, occupation. The same for any probation report. The Judge can read this out. Good luck

I remember feeling sick for days before, could not focus at work etc. We prepared for the worst but hoped for the best. We got no real help in what to expect if my partner went to prison but online searchs helped. Sounds strange but for me it kept me busy working through what we needed to prepare (bag, finances etc).

But that might not work for you so I can also suggest trying to keep your mind off of it if possible by keeping busy. Meditation/mindfulness helps me too. Online videos on breathing exercises are widely available.

Big hugs!
