I have now found out that there are no restrictions on my sons SHPO in regard to seeing his son,but I am trying to find out if Ss can stop him seeing his little boy.He lived with his family till sentencing.
Hi Fatso
that must be a relief that his order does not forbid him from seeing his son.
from experience, the social services can override that and say no contact until we have done assessments etc on your son and whoever would be supervising. That sounds worse than it is as plenty of men who have been convicted still get to see their children.
All of that said, the mother does not have to go with what the social services say. So, if they say he can see his child, the mother does not have to allow it. In that circumstance the father has to take it through the court to get access to his child ordered by a judge.
It all comes down to the child's mother in the end as to whether she will agree with social services that your don should see his child. I'm not experienced a lot in this but I think the first step would be social services doing an assessment on your son. How all that works while the dad is still in prison I don't know. Hopefully someone else will be able to give more details x
