Hi, I was wondering if anyone has any experience. Ex is on bail and no charges yet. I have no doubt he will be charged with the communication offence he is accused of. My question is has anyone's father of their children been allowed unsupervised access to the children. I don't want to supervise access, but I don't want to cut contact for the kids sake either. I am supervising all access at the moment. I believe whole heartedly he is no danger to children and has made a stupid mistake. Does anyone know if he gets the SHPo, can it be amended to allow access to his own children unsupervised?

With an SHPO you are always able to go back to court to get amendments. The solicitor should also get a copy before sentencing and can argue for amendments at that stage.

Just because a SHPO says one thing doesn't mean that SS won't override it and not allow unsupervised access.

My husband has unsupervised contact with our children - but we had to wait until the investigation was over and then had to go through another SS assessment. He moved back home several months after his court appearance. He is on the SOR and has a SHPO - but his restrictions are all based around internet activities - no restrictions at all on picking kids up from school, contact etc. In fact life is very much the same as it was prior to his arrest....

He was also deemed extremely low risk of any contact offence by probabtion so I think that helped. He also had viewed a small number of images (less than 10) and on only one occasion.

Thank you both for the reply's. It's given me some hope, he's my ex I just don't want to be having to hang out with him, if that makes sense. I know he is no danger to children, no concerns around that.

Bellabee once the investigation is over, do SS get back in touch or did you contact them? Their case is closed and the outcome was the same as the bail conditions, no unsupervised contact.

We contacted them as the case had been closed. They were reluctant to re do the assessment but we pushed for it as otherwise the conditions set out when he was first on bail would have stayed in place (& were no longer relevant) please don't tell SS that you don't think he's a risk to your children though as they will deem you as non protective! I made this mistake... xx
