Really simple stupid question, but it's getting my anxiety so I need to find out.... When do have to pay all the fees, like magistrates court, solicitor fees, crown court, etc.... Do you need to pay as you go along, or is it something at the end in a lump? He (we're) not eligible for legal aid but money is tight so it would help to know when I'll have to cough up (and how long I've got to prepare/save for!). Sorry

Is your partner going for guilty or not guilty? I ask because my partner went for guilty and overall his costs were no more than 700 for solicitor and court fees. Court fees can be paid installments, has to be agreed with the service that takes the payment. My partner did in two parts, but I believe they want the payment in full in a few months. I would check with the solicitor how much grace they give for payment.

I personally don't think the solicitor we had was worth the money. My partner didn't have the same person there to represent him.

I am not sure if court fees are universal or regional based.

He's pleading guilty at magistrate in a fortnight, but it's pretty certain to go to crown after that.

Hi

My husband was sentenced at Magistrates. We were given 28 days to pay the court costs. This was discussed at the end with the solicitor, my hub just nodded to agree.

Solicitors we also paid, but I believe they did do a instalment payment.
