Luis

My hub has done his community service, he over 55.

He did workshops which is making things for the community. Grass cutting, painting, hedge cutting and litter picking.

He soon finished this and has over a year left of his community order which he doing his 30 days rehabilitation which is nearly also done. He saw the PO weekly, it's now gone to fortnight, this can be just a check up phonecall or does some work over the phone. He does have a good relationship with his PO.

Please don't worry. They are there to help them.

It depends on what tasks are available on the day. Better weather means more sunny days out so hopefully they can get most of their hours over spring and summer. My partner had his over autumn and winter and was out in the cold and rain.

My partner mostly did littler picking I would say 80% of the time. They get gloves and grabbers. Also due to weather and availability of work some days finished early (which was a pain when my partner was trying to get his hours out of the way but for your dad he may appreciate the shorter days).

If you have any more questions on community service please do not hesitate to ask :)

I'm not sure because my partner was only mid 30s at the time but I would hope they take into consideration your dad's age and health. Maybe he won't get community hours set? I do t think everyone does but I could be wrong.

If he has a doctor's note to state his limits that would help. They do t take too kindly to people skipping community days without a good reason. And the hours would still need to be completed

Hi

My husband was expecting Community Service and was willing to do it. After discussing his health with his solicitor he was advised to submit a letter from the hospital describing the skeletal (Back) problems. He had been given such a letter on diagnosis a couple of years previously.

He was in his early 60s when sentenced and I believe the judge took his health into consideration and he didn't get Community Service.

Fingers crossed your Dad's judge takes the same attitude.

Please be careful! I don't know whether my husbands ill health was a factor in him being sent to prison!!!! He has a number of physical health conditions, and mental health conditions. If the judge wants to punish there are only certain options open to them.....I don't know, but there doesn't seem to be any consistency. But don't close any option off would be my advice! Xx

My son worked in cemetery strimming grass trimming bushes and watering , there was an older man there so they let him do the easier job watering , they tend to put sex offenders in places like that to do their service
