Just thought I'd share my outcome from today on here. 43 weeks ago today we got the knock and I've been on this forum ever since.

my partner was back at magistrates for sentencing today. He got 5 years SOR and SHPO. 30 hours 'work with probation' - I think this means courses. And 120 hours unpaid work.

he didn't see any press there at all, so I'm hoping we avoid all that, but I suppose there's no way of being completely sure and time will tell. His solicitor said he hasn't seen any press at magistrates court for ages, although I'm aware the courts sometimes send stories to the press -so if that's the case I just hope ours doesn't stand out to them!

i definitely feel a sense of relief and that the worst is over, it's been the worst time of my life. we just need to get used to a new way of life slightly I guess with the restrictions a SHPO/SOR bring. I'm just so glad he's home. I didn't go to court with him, but he said when he first arrived, his solicitor started saying "if it ends up being custodial...." I'd have been in a real panic if I'd heard him talking like that!

both our letters to the judge were read out in court! So I'd say they are definitely worth doing - weather they helped or not I'm unsure but it shows they were definitely looked at.

thank you to everyone who's given me advice and info in the last 43 weeks. We didn't tell anyone so this forum has been like me actually having someone to talk to and has really really helped me at times x

so glad you are out the other side and that hopefully no press involved. We are getting used to the new norm as well but I can say it's far less stressful than the limbo stage.

I wish you well moving forward. Well done for getting through the nightmare. Xxx

Hi Dottie

thanks for the reply. What sentence did your partner get and what were the charges? Did you manage to avoid the media? X

20mth suspended sentence. Iioc across all categories, majority cat c but 6 cat a and 2 b. Managed to avoid any media in both plea and sentencing, which I am so relieved about as the consequences are devastating as we all know from some of the stories on here. Took 2 years to get through to sentencing.

So pleased this part is over for you.

Hopefully it won't get in the media, if it does it won't be in there for long.

Take care of you

Anne
