Hi everyone, I'm new here and just trying to find some support in dealing with my situation.

My daughters father was arrested in January 2019 for indecent images and RUI. 25 months later and he was charged with 3 different offences and last week finally had the plea hearing. We haven't been together since my daughter was a baby due to domestic violence (she is 9 now), so I have been told very little about the charges/investigation.

Although we are not together, my life has been thrown upside down. I had to have SS involved for 3 months to do a CIN assessment, they said she was safe with me so they removed their support. They were really helping me and my daughter deal with the situation and we are now both struggling with bad anxiety and don't know where to turn. Visits were always a negative experience for her and I still don't know if she was involved in the situation. She is now terrified of ever seeing him again, especially after the questioning she had to endure.

I am very frustrated with the whole situation, as the ex was in court last week and refused to enter a plea, so it now has to go to a pre trial hearing at crown Court and potentially a trial. The DC in charge of the case was very shocked that he didn't plead guilty. What benefits does it have to refuse to speak or enter a plea?

Has anyone been through something similar? Does anyone know of any other support or counselling services that are available to people in my situation?

Any help or guidance would be gratefully appreciated.

For support for yourself and your daughter you could ring the Lucy faithful helpline to see what they suggest. There are stop it now specialists who can provide therapy but I believe there is some cost.

I'm not too familiar with therapy for children but I was diagnosed with a mental illness at 14 and was given one to one mindfulness training and have done a few CBT courses to help with anxiety.

Unfortunately with a not guilty plea o believe would go to trial and adds to further delay. If found guilty they lose the chance to have a reduced sentence given to guilty pleas.
