Hi guys sorry for the delay but it's taken a week to process the events of last week. My son has been given a custodial sentence of 20 months 10 years on register and shpo he is currently on medication and my partner and I feel that life is no longer worth living the media as usual were like a dog with a bone. Really dont know how to move on from this I truly feel for anyone going through this it is a living nightmare.

Hugs to all.

I am so very sorry to hear the news your son received a custodial sentence, sending you all lots of support and strength.

We are still in the early stages of this process so I am unable to offer any practical support on how to cope with what you are going through, as we have not experienced this ourselves. However, I am sure you will receive replies from others on here who are in the same situation you are in.

Stay strong and thinking of you.

I am so sorry for you absolutely deverstating. May I ask as I am going through this with my son and have read loads .. my son had over 400 images in all catagories, how many images did your son have ? It seems to depend on judge on day which is so wrong . My nerves are shot to pieces I jump out my skin by someone knocking on my door fgs. Was this your sons first offence ? It seems extremely harsh .

Sending you a virtual hug x

Thank you Alison20 we still feel numb. Becky1234 yes it is his first offence and less than 1000 images over all three categories we were told a suspended sentence was likely but as always it depends on the judge on the day we just feel like we are on the ledge of a big black hole and the ground is going from beneath us really hope your son gets a more compassionate judge than we did.

Hugs to both x

Just to add it would probably be benefical to you to speak with the Stop it Now helpline, for support and helpful advice, if you haven't already done so.

Just a thought, if you feel the sentencing was harsh in your son's case have you thought of appealing. I have just come across this link online https://www.gov.uk/appeal-against-crown-court-verdict

It maybe something you wish to discuss with the helpline, with a solicitor, or CAB , to see if it is a possible option in your case.

Thank you for replying, it really is very unfair a man was in the papers the other day for over 4000 images and got less than your son on 3rd time of doing it. My ex partner got less (18 months ) for shaking my baby and leaving him brain damaged fgs.

I just can not work out the justice system obviously I know its wrong but it is a addiction.

I know exactly what you mean by the whole my life seems to be one battle after another.

I hope you find strength , reach out when you need too.. thinking of you wish I had a magic wand X
