So tomorrow my partner has to tell work that he's under investigation with the police.

He doesn't have to say what for but it's not going to take a genius when they get an email from the sexual crimes unit and they're asking for help looking at his work laptop. It will mean he gets investigated at work and will lose his job.

He's admitted to sexual communication with a decoy, but all done via his phone. I know they have to check all devices but it's so frustrating that he's going to lose his job over this (he doesn't work with children or vulnerable people so he's been able to work so far).

It's even more scary because I'm on maternity leave with our child, we're paying for two places and our solicitor fees are mounting up.

Our SS worker has also decided to come round at 9am tomorrow. Best timing ever...

Ohh god bless you, is it certain he will loose his job ? I can understand an investigation but if he doesn't work with children and work laptop comes back clean why won't they keep him on.. I have no words but just wanted to let you know someone has read your post.. thinking of you and hoping for the best outcome X

Hi there.

If he's under investigation and not charged, they can't fairly dismiss him. He could be suspended pending the outcome of the police investigation, but not dismissed, unless he's been with his employer less than two years.

Thanks both. He's been at his workplace for five years so really strong record and has always performed brilliantly.

His work contract states once convicted they would consider it gross misconduct and he would be let go. However it's not at that stage, and he will ultimately be charged as he has admitted to the charges in interview with the police - but I don't know if that gets disclosed to his employer?

No they would not disclose to his employer only if he worked with children or vulnerable. While under investigation they won't sack him as thats unfair dismissal so although he knows he's guilty and police know he doesn't have to tell his employer he's guilty .. sending a virtual hug it's so horrible :( X
