Hello Sadmum,

So sorry you are part of this group, but it has helped me alot.

We have a very unusual surname for the area we live and that was our reason for changing names, but our solicitor advised the same as yours.

I hope everything goes smoothly for you xx

My husband changed his name after he was arrested but before he was charged. We had a very good reason as to why we didn't want it going public and the investigating officer was very helpful and understanding. He reminded the cps about only using new name and even got the court listing changed when the placed his previous surname. He couldn't give us an guarantees that the judge wouldn't mention previous name but on the day only new name mentioned. We were lucky no reporters.
It's easy to change name by deed poll but make sure all documents etc are changed in line with new name.
I wish you well.
