I'm new to all this, my son only got arrested last week so it's all been very raw and traumatic. I can't answer you're questions but maybe I can get advice from you. I know every case is different but have been the time scales for you, you say it's been a long journey.

lhope things go ok in 2 days for you and your son. I know they may have made some horrendous unspeakable mistakes but just need to get on with a path of recovery. I know this is naive, but I'm trying to not think the worst.

Heartbroken

I am so sorry to hear about your son its so horrible. Know one wants to be here. So my son age 21 now was questioned Dec 2019 and first court appearance is on Thursday at magistrates for around 400 iioc in all cat.

It is a very long process and you will have many questions running round in your head.

I just read your post about should you tell family . I have chosen not too to protect my son for now obviously if it hits papers I'm hoping they will understand why I didn't. I have a 15 y/o daughter and as long as I don't leave them alone I am able to keep my family together for now any way. Was your son released on bail conditions or pending further investigation? Please go on your holiday you will need it trust me just make sure your son is aware that he has to be supervised around the child.

I will of course try and awnser your questions if you want to talk please don't make any hasty decisions. Where abouts in the world are you as different parts act quicker ... sending a virtual hug your way X

Becky

Yes magistrates is to enter their plea, it is usually 4 weeks after this they will be charged

Also in the meantime this is when PO will be in touch to do the pre sentence report. This took 2half hours for my hub all on the telephone, they ask loads of questions.

Sending a virtual hug for Thursday

Thank you Becky for your reply. Dec 19, that's a long journey but by reading yours and others posts I now realise what we could be in for. With reflection I think your advice is probably sensible not to tell anyone yet. Sadly looks like I'll have plenty of time!!

Best wishes for Thursday x

Yes unfortunately you will which is the worst part. They advice to keep as much normality as possible which again is hard. My son has carried on with his life which has been hard on me what I mean by this is nothing has changed for him yet but my whole world has changed. My son has a good job with lots of prospects soon to be taken away. I am still gutted and not sure if I can get back to where I was I really am hoping too one day.

I take 10 mins a day to talk to him not always about this but just to let him know I am there.

He has distanced himself from me but it's because of guilt.

Please if you need to know anything I'm here I check regularly when I'm not at work. It's all new at the moment for you and I wish I could say it gets easier but I am yet to feel this. Its a mourning process not only for his life but our family life .

Thinking of you X

Nothing constructive to add except love to you all.

Women are amazing with their strength and resilience, even if we,as I do atm, feel utterly devastated, lost and frightened. Xx

Becky you are amazing. You have all the worries of going to court tomorrow yet you still were able to offer advice.
I really hope for you and your son that you get the best outcome possible. I will be thinking of you x

Hi Becky1234

I'm behind you on my journey so no advice to offer but your situation is similar to mine with a 15 year old daughter at home and son waiting to a date for court, I just wanted to say hello!

It's a nightmare journey and I'm honestly terrified every time I think about it. Like you I'm supporting my son, ringing and messaging every day, but it's strained sometimes, and I'm so worried about him.

I'm so impressed by how strong and resilient you and so many other mums and partners are. Reading these posts gives me the strength to keep going.

I hope all goes well for you and your son tomorrow, best wishes and virtual hugs.

Just imagine all on here, holding hands standing in a virtual circle , our own circle of life , supporting all these young persons and their families caught up in this mess, there is no blame just understanding, hope and being able to move forward in a positive way.

a great big hug!

Thank you so much , he's at court now , my heart is going 10 to the dozen and the hardest thing about all this is there's nothing can do to change it. Maij I'm holding on to that circle and feel I'm not alone x

my son was arrested 13th feb 2020 100 a's b's and c's , court was a breeze due to covid , no one there got 2 years comonity service which i was so graeful for, then you get the 3 month check which is a nightmare they turn up when ever they want 5 years of this it's doing my head in , any change in life they have to be informed and they appear new bank card etc and they are here , runng my life x

Thank you, where in the world are you ? We are UK and ours has taken 18months . Yours was a good outcome considering which is good. When you say 3 monthly check what do they do ? So son pleaded guilty at magistrates yesterday instead of doing a no plea. He's off to Crown court. Did yours go to Crown? When you say they have made your life a nightmare in what ? Sorry I'm just so nervous and anxious , how are you and your son doing ? X

Becky1234 does your son live at your address, was there any reporters in the Magistrates, do you think it will come out in the media that he has had Magistrates , I am worried that my son will get reported once its been to Magistrates and then be hounded until his crown court appearence

Sad mum

There was no reporters there but because of covid. Now they call the courts for roundup. If I remember correctly you are not too far into this journey. Has your son been given a court date yet ? Most of these cases go unnoticed normally position of trust is a huge factor of it hitting papers but obviouslycan never be sure abit like the sentencing . My son still lives with me .

Maij

Thank you very much appreciate your help.

Thank you I wish there was a way I could speak to you privately. Its all messed up I don't have a clue what to do I'm at my wits end. He went to court pleaded guilty without seeing any evidence his solicitor wasn't there so a duty one had to go in with him fgs . Apparently he is not entitled to legal aid but he will loose his job soon so I don't understand. Sorry for the Rant x
