Hiya all.

My O/H got the knock on 26/may/2021. He had 6 devices taken away which 4 have come back as nothing on them.

The other 2 have gone away to a safe place.

Does anybody know how long it takes to get them back.. Hoping it get back before xmas but that's wishful thinking me thinks.

What's the longest people have taken to get stuff back and get a interview.

This is really doing my head in. But sticking by him.

Thank you xx

Hi there.

If the devices had iioc on them they will not be returned. My partner did manage to get some photos recovered before devices were destroyed but had to pay a fee and request at sentencing.

If all clear they should be returned no later than when charges are made, if at all. It took more than a year for my partner to get all his back for items that were clear.

Hiya.

Thank you very much for getting back to me.

Sorry to ask this but how did it take from the devices taken to getting to court.

I am scratching my head here with worry. Seen on some of the forums can take up to a year. Don't think I can cope with that.

My O/H has at the moment got a basic phone for the time being.

Thank you xx

I didn't know they destroyed devices if IIOC found on them - is that the same everywhere? It's only just occured to me that the last decades memories are stored on the computer that was taken. I guess I just thought they'd clear anything bad and return it. Naive of me I guess

Chelsea - had no news about devices since the beginning of the year. I've read about cases taking a couple of years. Sorry I can't give more positive news. Hope you're doing okay

They keep the devices until after court. They took his phone and my phone ( which was an old one of his). Only found something on his phone but destroyed both, which was two years after they first took them.

Hi there!

Hi there,

In our experience it took a long time to get our devices back, 3 years nearly. The DC called to say I could collect them 5 1/2 months after my OH was sentenced. I didn't get them all back they kept the ones which had the IOC's on and they were destroyed. I was gutted because it had lots of pictures on I wanted, but there was nothing I could do.
It's different with every investigation I'm afraid could be quick could be a long time, but if they find illegal images on them they do tend to destroy them, unless you call and ask.

Best wishes,

Blue x

Ours took nearly two years from the knock, he was re interviewed in the July ( just a week under the 2 year mark from his first interview) and then the items that were clear were returned I think in the September, he went to court in the November xx

Apparently, it can take around three days to forensically examine about 100 GB of data, so it depends how much storage each device would have on it.

The police will examine everything on the device, including any interent history, cached items, and so on and so forth.

My partner and i had a lot of devices, which the police seized and searched, and, all in all, it took them about nine months.

Some devices were returned early, if they were all clear, whilst some were retained for evidence, even though there was nothing illegal on them.

The last remaining devices were only returned eight weeks after sentencing, in case my partner decided to appeal his sentence.

Hiya All over the place.

Blimey that's take a long time then. My hubby had the latest phone and very old ipad.

He had admitted some stuff on the phone but only around in total around 60 files.

My hubby has got a throw away phone and said it's better for him no reason to go on.

If it's ok to ask what did they find on your hubby's phone and what sentence did he get.

Doing my head in xx

It's normal for them to destroy any devices after sentencing. You can ask if they will return photos via your solicitor, the Judge may be sympathetic. I guess the idea is that in theory a speacialist may be able to recreate some of the content. In my partners case the items that had nothing on them were to be returned after sentencing. In reality they said they had to keep them to check if anything was on them, despite in their ealier reports saying they were clean. Then they admitted that they lost them (unclear if they were simply lying earlier - as they did throughout the case). Eventually they found them about a year after he was released.
