This morning after 18 months of what can only be described as hell, it has all come to an end.

February 2020 we received the knock. My partner received a court summons in February 2021 to say he had been charged with possession of iioc and had to attend magistrates. It felt like our world had ended. I was already depressed and suffering from anxiety from the knock.

We decided to get a specialist solicitor as he wanted to plead not guilty. It was the best thing he ever did.

The exact reason why you should not just plead guilty for the sake of it. Last week he received a call to say his trial that was due in September at Crown Court would not be happening and the CPS has dropped the case due to no evidence.

The specialist solicitor advised us to pay for a private forensic analysis of the device and he tore the polices evidence apart. There wasn't any.

It's a shame in 2021 that money still talks and it has taken 18 months and a hell of a lot of money to prove he is innocent.

This site has helped me so much. I feel so much for people who have gone through and are going through this. I believe there should be a better process as so many lives are ruined by that one knock. Stay safe everyone and never give up hope, however hard it gets there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

Bav, I'm so pleased for you at this result.o actually cannot imagine your relief xx

I am confused tho

How were the police aware of your husband if there was absolutely no reason?

I understand not thing on devices , but what alerted them in first place.

Hi Bav

So pleased to hear your good news , however is there any chance of recovering some of your costs due to police wrongfully arrested and charged?

How could they charge with no evidence ? Cos normally only pass if there is enough evidence ? That's mind boggling did your partner always remain convinced there wouldn't be anything ?

So pleased it's all over for you

Sorry for the confusion, so yes throughout my partner said he didn't have any idea what it was about.

There were images found on the phone and this is why he was charged, but there were 4 images in a weird file in amongst other things. He had no idea what they were or how they got there.

They were also not full size images and more like tiny icon type images, they're not sure if the file got sent to the phone via a virus or something else.

This was all uncovered when we paid for the new forensic search, the one the police had done was very weak and was easily tore apart.

I am so relieved and slightly in disbelief that it's over!

Would you be able to disclose the lawyer you used? It sounds like it might be a wise idea to get a specialist.

I'm so pleased for you. In any other industry they would relook at all the other cases which used the same forensics and re-examine (both not guilty and guilty pleas). Sadly our justice system is less interested in justice, but just in getting convictions.

Our politicians talk about open justice, but when it comes to cases that are dropped once the evidence is challenged, why do we not know the names of the officers involved? Surely that is in the public interest, and important information defendants and those convicted need to know. Vital information for appeals. This is what journalists should be writing about.

We looked at appealing and the forensics costs were truely shocking. In the end we decided that he had moved on, and we couldn't risk his new identity being made public.

I would be curious to know if they used a streamlined forencis report, and if you considered that they had been untruthful or misrepresented the case.

I'm so happy for you.
