Head is in a mess

Hi everyone,
I'm new here and just really looking for advice from people in a similar situation
My brother has recently gone to prison for downloading inappropriate content... I've only just found out but apparently it's been ongoing for a couple of years
My head is all over the place... on the one hand I'm truly disgusted, shocked and sickened by what he has done, and currently I feel like I don't ever want to see or speak to him again... but on the other hand he's like a different person to me now and I'm feeling a sort of grief for the brother I used to know, and can't shake the feeling of almost feeling sorry for him because he always seemed so 'innocent' and I don't know how he will handle prison
These conflicting feelings are tearing me apart, if anyone has any advice for me I would appreciate it x

I am sorry you find yourself in this difficult situation.
You have come to the right place for support, I am a mum to a 21 y/o offender.
You will be feeling all kinds of emotions unfortunately, and you will go through a grieving process. Obviously are initial reaction is anger/guilt.
I totally get where you say you feel sorry for your brother, the thing is these men do this for all sorts of problems whether it be a porn addiction, mental health, self harm etc the list is endless.
How are your parents dealing with this ?
Do you think you would phone the helpline they are open until 9 pm and know exactly how to help you.
Sending a virtual hug your way x

I can sympathise very much with this. When my Dad first got arrested 3 months ago I felt so sorry for him and bent over backwards to support him. Unfortunately now I am just full of anger. I think it's a rollercoaster of emotions and I'm sure we will be conflicted many times. Right now I am just trying to be there for my Mum. Lots of love to you.
Thanks for the responses x
Sorry to hear you're both in similar situations, it's such a difficult time but it's comforting to know we're not alone
My parents are coping pretty well considering, we all have each other which is a big help
Hopefully in time I will be able to get my head around everything but just taking each day as it comes
Hope you are both ok, hugs to you both x
