Hi ladies,

Hope you're all doing okay? As best you can during all of this anyway!!

I'm just curious how many of you are from my area and how long your husband's/partners/family/friends case is taking or took? What the case charges were/are and sentencing outcome?

We're currently 22months in and has been with CPS for months.

Thank you ...xxxx

There are 14 different geographical areas that the CPS is divided up into (you can look at these on their website) If you are in Hampshire the CPS has grouped this as Wessex and also includes Dorset, Wiltshire and Isle of Wight.

I just thought I would reply with this information so that if others are from these areas they can reply to you. Each of the 14 CPS areas will have different timescales and that is one of the reasons why some people have much longer waiting times in this process than others.

We are not in this area, but I hope you receive some responses from others soon.

I hope you do not have to wait much longer before hearing back from the CPS.

How can people possibly function for over 2 years and nothing happens.

Not good for wellbeing or mental health.

Thank you, trust me its been a struggle to function, mental health struggles , when it first happened I honestly felt like I wasn't going to get through it, I did and so is my son. Battle isn't over and the fight carries on. What I will say is in all this remember you, I didn't but now I do.

I really appreciate all of your replies ladies. The time this takes from start to finish is shocking. I hope the courts take this into consideration more bail conditions or no bail conditions. The length of time they wait should show these judges these men can live safely in the community. Having someone RUI for years, no aggravating factors happening in that time to then get custodial makes little sense really in terms of tax payers money and prison space. Thankfully right now my frame of mind is doing okay but I'm sure soon I'll have a wobble. I hope you're all doing okay! Huffff and argh to all of this waiting around aye!!!

Hiya.

Blimey some of these cases are taking way to long and will have damaging affects on mental health etc.

God I am only 2 months in with hubby and it's doing my head in.

Stay strong xx

Hi ScaredLamb

Well my partner has had a solicitor since he was Rui, and his advice is to just leave it...don't go to the police for updates, it is ridiculous tho, I just hope they take this time into consideration when it does eventually go to court.
My partner was caught by a vigilante group, not the police so maybe that's a factor as well.

Wishing you all the best

Feel for everyone who has been living this for years x

Hi Sad and Worried,

I totally get their is a majority who do nothing aggravating whilst RUI.

However a small minority like my ex love to continue with many aggravating behaviours whilst RUI.

I can't specify too much but let's just say he deserves a Grammy award.

Length of time on these are awful can't believe I'm reading 3 n half years that's the longest one I've seen yet.

We are in Lancashire, we are coming up to 8 months in, if MABEL reads this I just wanted to ask you about a name change, you said in a previous post that your husband has changed his name, I am going to get my son to change his name now before he is charged as I have just read of someone on the news that has changed their name and only that name has been read out in court so we are going to take the chance, did you husband change it by deed poll and has he changed all his bank, driving licence etc to new name, thanks

Hi I just wanted to jump in and say we are in Essex as well. I got hubby to phone up polit last week (husband was arrested in March) as it is just doing my head in not knowing what is going on! They said they had finished with the laptop. It wasn't needed to be sent off and forensics were done in house.(this is where all the evidence is according to husband) However they weren't satisfied with the phone and that has been sent off externally. This is where the problem is apparently, due to him being low on the offending (I have to laugh) it just get shoved to the bottom of the pile and more frustratingly he is adamant that there is nothing on it (I have no reason to not believe him)

it is so frustrating!!!

Hubby admitted it on his phone but nothing else.

He rang the soliceters and same story , sorry sir it's gonna be a while. Load of cases and covid backlog.

We are in North West and are 5 months in. All in house forensics came back clear, 2 phones taken away and cleared. 4 weeks ago police file went to CPS so now just waiting to learn our fate. PO said CPS should respond within 28 days, is that right?

With 850 men being arrested every month its going to be a long wait I'm afraid, the police are overwhelmed with trying to deal with this crime. I'm in Hampshire and it took 16 months, but that was back in 2018, it seems to take longer now.

Chelsea 1 that's years I'm afraid :(

It does seem to be taking a lot longer down south compared to uo north but there might be a correlation between sentencing up north... I would assume if there are lesser cases, the punishment might be harsher to demonstrate and also because there's less strain on the system. They don't need to get more cases completed as it were....
