Do you mean character reference? I did one for my partner and he had friends do the same.

There are templates for structure but essentially it is a chance to explain what you know of the offender, their offending and to back up what the accused has done since the arrest. To explain what a person is like before, during and after the offending behaviour.

It is not an opportunity to say whether you think they are guilty or innocent or what sentence they deserve.

Hi Sam!

From what I remember your friend has plead not guilty as they're shared devices and it could have been anyone in the house? Is that correct? If it is then I wouldn't have thought he'd need one until crown court and that's only if he's found guilty as I'm sure they're only needed at sentencing so there's plenty of time. There are loads of templates online. They're literally about how you know the person, who they are and all the positives about them. Don't mention the case or whether you think they've done it. They've got to be very factual and honest. Good luck!
