Currently waiting for CPS to decide charges. Is anyone else from the North West, if so roughly how long did you have to wait from file going to CPS to being charged?
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance
Hello I'm in the north west. We got our knock at end of March and the OIC is sending case to the CPS this week.
Not sure on the timescales with CPS but we've been warned could be 4-6 months...however, we were warned a year for looking at devices and they were done and checked within 4 months.
MW, we are a similar case with communication with a police decoy posing as a child. Keeping fingers crossed for you x

Hey we are NW,
CPS had it since Jan,

Unsure when file was sent.
Still awaiting CPS decision so it's almost 8 months in total for CPS but around 5 months from when there was a 2nd interview

Hi we are in North west, we had knock Sept, 2nd interview January, magistrates June and crown court July
Hi
What happens when it goes to crown court? Is there a jury or just the judge?
A family member has just been to the magistrates court and now waiting to go to crown court.
Are family members allowed to go to the crown court does anyone know or is it only 1 person allowed? At the magistrates court we were told only 1 person was allowed in.
Thanks everyone xx

Thanks ladies.
Pregnant and scared, our stories are so similar so will keep you posted with updates. I hope you are OK and coping as best you can xx
Can I also ask, does everyone have a second interview or is it only if more evidence is found? We have been told that he is just likely to receive a letter in the post outlining charges and possible magistrates court date..... Does that sound right? I am just a bag of nerves waiting for my husband to text everyday to tell me if the post has been delivered (he works from home, I work in an office).
We were initially told it would be 28 days from PO submitting file, to CPS issuing their verdict, we are now 6 weeks in.

My,
It was my husbands solicitor who told us he would have a second interview that's how we knew about it, so I am assuming everyone gets a second interview possibly to tell them wat evidence they have x

So he will get a 2nd interview even if they haven't found anything else? He was presented with what they had at his 1st nterview. They gave told him the his phones gave been cleared and nothing else has been found.
It's do confusing isn't it? And the information the police and solicitors give are totally conflicting!

We've had it implied there will be no second interview as nothing else found.
Mw, did your husband admit to the police about the conversations or just to you? It might be that they bring him in if they have further evidence to prove it's him and then to see what he does.
keepinh everything crossed for you. As hard as it is receiving that letter, at least it will mean things are moving forward x

in the north west too, knock in November 2020, Magistrates this month. North west seem to be quite quick compared to other regions
Pregnantandscared the police apparently never asked the direct question "did you do this?" husband said they asked very indirect questions like "how would you verify the age of the person you're talking to on line" and "do you ever watch porn, if so which sites to you use?" I think they are pretty convinced he did it as they have his mobile phone number and IP address.
Lolamoo it does seem our area is alot quicker that everywhere else, his phones where cleared after a couple of months, although we've not received them back yet. I can only assume he will get them back once CPS has decided his fate and don't need to relook at them. At first I was really hoping for a caution, he has 2 seperate chats with 14 and 12 year old, I photo from him sent. Chats only happened over a 2 month period. However after reading ALOT on here I'm now thinking he will get a suspended sentence. Can I ask, how long did you wait from file going to CPS to charges being issued?

He had the knock in April 2019 and first interview, second interview was November 2020, letter to attend court came in March 2021, first magistrates court was April 2021 and magistrates court for sentencing was May 2021. Our solicitor actually used the amount of time he'd been waiting between the knock and sentencing in his defence because it had been over two years.
North West. 18 months from knock to CPS. Then another 8 months to get through to Magistrate's.
Just by way of an update, we got the letter on Friday outlining the charges. 3 charges in total, 1 for communication for sexual gratification and 2 for inciting non-penetrative sexual activity. Magistrates Court on 9th Sept.
I'm in pieces coz I now have to tell our eldest daughter (should have been on holiday with her the week of the court date). Not sure how much longer I can do this.

MW, keeping fingers crossed for you for a positive outcome.
it's scary but try to see it as one step further in the journey, and once the criminal side is done you can then start to rebuild - whether that's with your husband or otherwise.
sorry I didn't answer your reply earlier. For my partner the questions were directly related to his conversation as he admitted guilt and showed remorse right away. We are still awaiting a CPS decision so I expect we will get the letter soon. My partner lives separately so hoping it doesn't hit him too hard as he will receive it on his own. We are still fighting with SS to get him home. We seem to have the most savage SWs I've heard of :(

Pregnant and scared, I too have everything crossed for you that you hear from CPS soon. Its a refief to know that we only have a couple of months to wait until we know our fate. I can't begin to imagine how much more this process is with SS involved too, I just prey you get the outcome you want and they grant your partner some kind of access to his children xxx
