Does anyone know if a family member can attend the official police interview at the end of the bail period. Obviously the solicitor will be there but can a friend or family member be there if the person keeps becoming distressed but has not been deemed unable to cope.

He was interviewed on initial arrest but awaiting end of bail interview but I don't think he will mentally cope even with the interview. He is still in a hospital a few months after the initial arrest but is due to be released soon but no diagnosis except a stress reaction despite a suicide bid.

he has had a total breakdown and will need months before even able to go out shopping or socially.

It'll be the interview at end of bail which has just been extended on again. It seems that this will definitely happen I think. Thank you

Grace hush is correct it is the responsibility of the custody sergeant in consultation with the on duty forensic nurse/doctor.

you might find it useful to look at the website for the organisation that trains and runs the service as there is a page on there site on the new rules that came into force in 2018 on the use of AA for vulnerable people over the age of 18. Just google appropriate adult on google

Big thank you. That's great information.

Any recommendations on psychiatrists? Hampshire / Oxfordshire / Berkshire.
