Don't know what to believe

Any advice would be massively appreciated!
We got the 'knock' just over two months ago. All devices including mine and children's were taken, and partner arrested.
I was told by OIC that they had arrested him on viewing iioc and that he had been linked through an IP address.
My partner strongly denies the allegation, and has told me about the interview, where they was just asking if he had been on dating sites, dark web and social media. Nothing was disclosed to him about what images they suspected him of been viewing, no website etc. And apparently the solicitor questioned 'who would be vindictive enough to make such as accusation'.
My head has been a complete mess since this has happened, my seemingly perfect life has been turned upside down.
My question is, how reliable are IP addresses? And why was this only dosclosed to me and not my partner or his solicitor? I spend my days desperatly searching for answers but have concluded nothing.
I want to believe my partner but find it so hard to believe they would get a search warrant and arrest him on false information.
