Frustration

My son has been in prison for a year and he is so motivated to get out this mess and rebuild his life. He's applied for education, courses, jobs but they just say "your on the waiting list" - I just worry he'll loose it! I did ring and yes, he got a medical check appt which was cancelled and no word of another date.
I read they have a progress check every six months - that hasn't happened either. I just feel they are left to rot. Does anyone know what's happening with prison education etc????

Hello Smile Through Tears,
Thank you for reaching out for some support and advice from the Family and Friends Forum. We have noticed that this post has not yet received a response from other forum users. It can be really difficult when a family member is in prison but It is really positive that your son is keen to rebuild his life but it seems frustrating that there has been little support in facilitating this.
I can see that you are in a difficult situation and that there is a mixture of confusing feelings that you are trying to understand and cope with at the moment as well as trying to support your son. Due to the complexity of yours and your son situation, I would like to encourage that you call our helpline (if you haven’t done so already) so that you can receive some tailored, individualised support from one of our experienced advisors. Our Stop It Now! helpline is confidential and anonymous (0808 1000 900).
I hope that, in the meantime, you receive some replies form other forum users soon.
I hope this has been helpful.
Take care,
Lucy
