Hi baffled

a basic and standard DBS do not make any reference to arrests or pending investigations it only discloses convictions

a basic will only show unspent convictions, and can be undertaken for any job or role that comes under the rehabilitation of offenders act

a standard will only show cautions and convictions that are not protected and that have not filtered and can only be undertaken if the job or role is exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act

the only place on a dbs that arrests and pending investigations can be disclosed if relevant to the nature of the job is on the back of an enhanced dbs under police intelligence, an enhanced dbs can only be undertaken if the job is either exempt from the rehabilitation of offenders act, working with children, or undertaking regulated activity with children or vulnerable adults

hope that helps

Thank you Lee and Not Alone. That makes me feel a lot better, it's not a job working with children/vulnerable adults so should just be the standard one. I'm going to call a specialist solicitor today and look into hiring one ready for what may come, I know it's expensive but we can't afford the implications of not having one. I've seen too much on here to trust that a duty solicitor will do what needs to be done. Although I truly am grateful for everything as I know things I couldn't possibly know without this forum.

Thanks again xxx

We used the duty solicitor and he was fantastic. My son said he felt comfortable with him from the start
