self reported and then the knock

My partner self reported to the police and soon after got the knock for a conversation before the self reporting
Do you think the police will take the self reporting into account ?
To make matters worst he told his work ( even though he did not need to} and lost his job
He is a good man who has just done a bad thing and he is very remorseful

Hi there.
I'm not sure what the question is. Are you asking if the police would be a bit more lenient because your partner self disclosed?
If so that isnt the police's role but the judge's. The police will investigate for all evidence possible for the offending. For my partner they managed to go back as far as ten years

Hi Globe trotter
my son of 23 self reported to the police in December last year and handed all his devices in. They showed leniency and He received a caution it never went to court. I do believe that they took his self reporting into consideration. I do think it is a very brave thing to do because there are consequences . He felt that he had to do that to own up to his mistake and to get the help he needed . Its a tough journey. Sending my best wishes. Tell you partner he did the right thing and he has shown great strength of character in doing that . I wish him well. Completing the inform plus course and having counselling with a LFF counsellor will also help him move forward positively and show that hes committed to changing his behaviour which will help his cause . Best wishes .
