Quick update as to where we are - husband had his please hearing in magistrates on 17th September, no press where there on the day - phew (or so we thought).

Our very mentally un-hinged neighbour has been funny with us ever since, ignoring me when I said hi, muttering things under his breath when he saw my husband.

Last Friday things ramped up a notch, as we were walking back into the house after coming back from Crown Court plea hearing, he muttered 'dirty bastard' and then shouted "if I get any trouble on my doorstep - I swear to god" then shouted a total expletive. This absolutely shook us to the core because as far as we knew, nothing had been reported. Anyway, yesterday my manager told me that a neighbour had called MY HR Dept to inform them there was an article in the local newspaper that they needed to be aware of!!!!! To say I was livid is an understatement.

I googled the newspaper and I'm so very angry, not only did they totally fabricate his story but they also printed our full address!!!

My husband has moved out immediately as we don't want to antagonise our neighbour, I've also had to install security cameras as I'm now fearing for my safety.

We have passed our concerns to our solicitor but not sure what else we can do?

Hi MW, I think the media do like to elaborate the stories they print, in our case things where left out words changed, some things that weren't even said unfortunately we have no comeback, we don't live together and fortunately my partner had no problems at his address which was printed, its very hard to know who's read it and who hasn't, I live in a different area but unfortunately my daughter found out, he has also lost contact with his son, alot of people on here have said it blows over quickly, but with your neighbour behaving like he is I'm not sure where you go, would it be worth phoning the police for advice, I am thinking of you so so much,

Sorry to hear the neighbor has seen the article and making a fuss. And how rude of them to report to your work, you have done nothing wrong. I can't remember if you had mentioned before whether your work were aware already...

Good to have the cameras, and maybe request an incident number from the police so you can log any issues. Hopefully with your husband not being present the neighbor will get bored. It is one thing I'm dreading when we move. It didn't make the news (that I am aware) but you never know sometimes. I think I will add a camera anyway. Some think it is an invasion of privacy but people can be unpredictable.

Omg MW that is awful! I'm so sorry you're having to go through that, like it's not already been hell for you already. Your neighbour sounds like he needs a kick in the pants for sure!!! Sending lots of love and hope it dies down for you very soon. Xx

Lee1969 - our entire address was printed, number and all!! Our solicitor and barrister have been made aware and will put this forward to the judge that it shouldn't be reported on again. Our solicitor said we could sue the paper due to breach in confidentiality but they will more than likely issue an apology in the paper, and do we really want to draw peoples attention to it again.

Husband had 2 police liason officers visit the other day (prior to the neighbour phoning my work) so he has phoned them to make them aware of the situation. They were angry that our full address had been printed but told us that our house is on a watch list. Still doesn't make me feel any safer knowing how volatile the neighbour is.

I've just got to ride the storm now I suppose. I've never felt sadness like this before, I've lost the marriage I thought I had, my self worth, my immediate family and now my home. I'm at a complete all time low. Just when I think things can't get any worse they always do..... I need a break!

I think I am going to contact the paper once he us sentenced..... Which by the way has been brought forward from end Nov to tomorrow!!!! Got a phonecall from his solicitor at 4.30 today to say the judge had seen the probation report (which is really good and sounds super positive) and sees no reason to delay sentencing. The probation report has given him less than a 0.1% chance of re-offending and is recommending a community order!!! I've gone from expecting a custodial to community order in 1 week!! Obviously we can't count our chickens yet, but I'll keep you all informed.

Police liason have taken our concern about knobhead neighbour very seriously and would happily have a word with him, but at the moment we don't want to antagonise him anymore. He has messed with the wrong girl though..... He's just built what looks like a bleedin world war 2 bunker in his back garden without planning permission...... I'm thinking a cheeky phonecall to planning Dept might be in order if he carries on!

Hi again Mw.. my husbands case hit on-line before we had even taken in what had been said in court.. then within 3 hrs (Name and address printed) I had friends texting/messaging to ask me if what they had read was true, we had only told a select few. It's now all died down thankfully, I've had sympathetic looks from neighbours and questions about my well being within my work environment but it has been short lived and at last seems to of died down. Hold your head up high and stay strong. Xx
