We go on holiday in the UK in two weeks. BnB booked months ago, police and probation have known of our intentions of going holiday for over a damn year.

Just been told that the local police are likely to do a check in because the BnB is close to a school. I will admit we didn't check for schools because my partner has no restrictions to say he can't go near one. We even live nearby to a primary school. We are going with family who don't know about my partner's conviction and now I'm paranoid that we will have police rock up. And to check what exactly? He isn't breaking any rules!

There needs to be a damn handbook on Dos and don'ts as sex offenders. We wanted to avoid issues with authorities by staying in the UK. Have any one else faced this? Has anyone had check ins during holidays?

I suggestes to our police liaison why can't we go to the local police station rather than have a visit? Again I don't know what they want to know?

Also I guess this highlights don't bother trying to be nice and open with police liaisons. We are away for 6 days so didn't even need to notify the police under the SOR (that has a 7 day minimum requirement).

The convo my partner had with his police liaison seemed like the local police really do want to check in and was implied they want to check it is all adults going on holiday.

We have asked if they really do need to turn up that it is out of police uniform and to be discreet. But I don't think there is anyway we can skirt around this as my family would certainly be suspicious. The school is very close I will admit and we didn't even think to check. It might not happen and be a false alarm but I'm so paranoid. It is another burden and I have told my partner I'm not sure how much of these types of situations I can handle

Hi majestictopaz

sorry to hear you are going through this, as you state in your post next time you know not to mention any thing especially as its less than 7 days

in relation to your other worry, if you read the rules on managing offenders that can be found on the collage of policing website, it makes it quite clear that any visit they undertake has to be inconspicuous, they have to be in plain cloths and unmarked cars, and should under no circumstance make people around you aware they are police. As a point to note if they did show and you were with family, then you are within your right to say this is not a good time and they will have to come back, and this should be respected

I hope this offers a little help

That has assured me a bit thank you. We haven't experienced a drop in yet since when the police liason tried in the past we were out. Just feel so stupid that we didn't think to check the local area. And tbh we were not involved really in choosing the location of the BnB and just went with it.

Live and learn I guess.

Update: police never rang or turned up. Thank goodness. But all these possible situations is stressful and keeps me on the edge!

Every time I saw a police car on holiday I would worry they were heading over to see us.
