Hi all

havent posted in a while. Been trying to keep going with life.

I have just been offered a new job, within early years working through the council. They have sent a reference request to my line manager who today has asked me if I have told my new job about my situation as they think they will have to even though there is nothing linked to me.

now I know I didnt have to disclose anything but felt that my current employer should know out of respect.

They are aging they may have to say something due to the wording on the reference which states:

The post for which the candidate has applied involves working closely with, having contact with or having responsibility for the safeguarding and welfare of children and/or vulnerable adults. We would therefore ask for a full and frank assessment of the candidates suitability to work with these client groups and to be informed of any concerns that might affect such suitability. Your responses to all questions should reflect this.

In compliance with Safeguarding Guidance you are advised that:

• Referees have a responsibility to ensure references are accurate and do not contain any material misstatement or omission; and• Relevant factual content of the reference may be discussed with the applicant

Any advice? Should I disclose to my new job?
