I would never have thought I would have to write a letter to the judge about my son I have no idea where to begin I have read up on what to write but still not a clue I thought the first thing I should say is I'm sorry for his actions and what it has caused to the victims and I dont condone what he has done, what it has done to us as a family it's like a bereavement but he is alive (he exists just about) he was doing well with his therapist since the first knock but then the second knock he has been on remand and is struggling so much! There is so much I could write but I dont want to waffle I just dont know where to start! Any help and advice would be much appreciated xxx

Thank you for thinking of me I have been reading the posts often just havent been posting much x
He is ok thank you still not in a good place but has had his plea hearing after it got cancelled twice so the next 8 weeks we will know what he is facing I feel so anxious
How is your son getting on I see there is another covid outbreak same at my sons prison

It's just awful when they are locked up nearly all day it's so difficult to keep them positive
Does your son have his own cell? Mine has to share while on remand ?
Living the new normal is hard I am just constantly so sad xx

If you are struggling with what to write as there is so much you can write and not sure what you should include and what not to .....
This works for me - write it all down (good to get off your chest) then look at it and re-write it (condensing it down) keeping it very factual and taking out the emotion. Almost like what facts are important for the Judge to be aware of to show your son's Character, his mental wellbeing, what may have lead him down this path....., the affect all of this has had on him and the family, the support the family can give him etc.
Really hope this helps, this method works well for me, but we are all different so I appreciate it doesn't work for everyone - but may be worth a try.
