I wondered if anyone else has experience where there partner has a charge related to a conversation with another adult about a child.

Seems that most of the cases discussed here are either about images or adults having direct chats with children / decoys acting as children rather than an adult having a conversation with another adult about a child. The ones I have seen people seem to have had the charges dropped or images have subsequently been found or have a completely different charge against them, to the one that my partner has had.

I'm finding it difficult to find the right support for me. The helpline has been useful to discuss generally but seems the course with LF or Safer Lives are aimed at family members where the charge is related to images or talking directly to children.

Hi Sal

Thats what I'm dealing with a the moment. When police came I was told that my husband and father of my children had told another adult ( police) on kik that he had done things to our children. Both of my children have been questioned (19 & 12) and nothing has ever happened to them. He has admitted that he was sent pics that were cat 3 but it was about the talking for him. That is, unless I have been lied to yet again.

I'm finding ot very difficult to figure out what the process of this is, as it doesn't fit in with most other crimes of this sort.

We no longer live together but I have been messaging him and seen him a couple of times. I know I have no advice in that lot but, I'm kind of on the same page.

Yes my Husband was charged with an obscene publication charge. He had a chat with an undercover police officer on kik about child abuse. He was given an 18 week suspended sentence and then slapped with a SHPO 6 weeks later!

Always here if you want to chat x

KLK, I'd seen your situation on a different post. The charge my partner is facing is so much more serious with a much longer minimum term sentence (starting at 3 years) . There must be something significantly different in the cases (or at least I'd hope) that mean such a different charge could be applied.

Anna Marie your case sounds a lot more complicated and imagine evokes some very confusing feelings. There doesn't seem to be many cases where the conversation is with another adult and where there is a discussion or inferred intention to meet/act on the things spoken about.

Id like to understand more about the offence and the behaviour around it, both the LF and Stop So seem to be mostly aimed at image viewing or talking to child (decoys pretending to be children). From talking to my partner and seeing how the conversation progressed he seemed more interested in the adult than the child (I still feel sick writing that) in the dialogue. I'd also be interested to know how cases were dealt with as they went through the court and the outcomes (although this seems like misspent energy as seems to very so much)
