Hello everyone,
My partner is still awaiting an update from the police so that sucks ..
We already own a house with a mortgage... We're looking to sell up and move this year....
Ive read the information on the Unlock website which is very helpful...
Just looking for anyone who has had experience in moving with a criminal record like this / Under investigation as we still currently are...
Thanks

Hi,
Currently moving house- selling to live closer to family.
Even with a custodial sentence it's not proving difficult to move/insure.
I called unlock many times to ask questions - have them on speed dial!
There are lenders who do not ask for criminal records.
I have a very sympathetic mortgage adviser who has gone above and beyond.
Any questions let me know.

Thank you Sarah,
I am so glad you've been able to move relatively easy given the situation .. Gives me hope for this year!
Sorry if you've answered but in your situation is your partner being investigated or have they already had their charges given and received their sentence?
Interesting, I didn't know you could call unlock... I'll be doing that then over the next few months to see...

Thanks Lee,
Much appreciated... So basically we need to get moving then don't we... it's frustrating that the process of moving takes a very long time ...
We're approaching 15 months now so we're counting each day now considering I think we might be getting a resolution soon...

Hi,
He's currently in prison. Its taking longer as everything needs to be sent to prison from Solicitors but we are progressing.
Unlock have a helpline and a WhatsApp message system also.
01634 247350 is the unlock number open Monday - Friday 10-4. Really useful resource.

Thank you Sarah, makes things much easier if they have a phone line and WhatsApp facility so I'll be using the heck out of them when we kick off this process !
We are first time buyers and in the process of purchasing a property. We used a mortgage broker but didn't disclose, thankfully it hasn't come up this far.
My partner was sentenced two years ago, but another 4 years before the sentence is spent. One issue that might crop up is building insurance. We are going to be a leaseholder so don't really choose the insurance.
Not sure if we will need to disclose yet, won't find out until after completion of purchase. I dread for the freeholder to find out of the conviction. I hope we can just go to the insurers directly and that they do not breach and tell the freeholder why the price will go up (which is likely, or worse be turned down).

It's great that the process is going well for you and your partner Majestic...
I have heard a lot about insurance, I wonder if there's a potential that I alone could take out buildings insurance.. So that the policy is in my name alone... That way it might potentially be easier...
Fingers crossed that your leaseholder doesn't find out, or is they do they don't care... Make sure to give us an update if you have the time on how it's going !

Re insurance, it's not about whose name it is in it's who lives in the property unfortunately. HomeProtect will insure those with unspent convictions but expect to pay more.
Thanks MJL for clearing that up for me :/ well I guess it's something we'll have to bite the bullet on then... It's annoying that were 15 months in and still haven't had anything back yet... But I guess for moving it's a good thing...
