Hi Chelsea- It was extremely painful when our case hit the media - even on radio!!!!!! I was terrified for days but everyone was ok with us - a little hesitant but certainly no aggression towards us.....
My husband's plea hearing was reported in our local paper, and on the online edition on Christmas Eve. It was purely factual but brutal. A lot of my neighbours read the paper so I delivered the bad news along with the Christmas gifts and cards. At least it have me an opportunity to paint a rather more balanced view and most folk were stunned but pleased I had chosen to speak with them directly. I've had one neighbour slam the door in my face but even he has actually spoken with my husband quite civilly since then.
The Police did advise us to contact them if we received any harassment and confirmed that as my husband is now on the Sex Offenders Register there is a marker on our address so they would respond quickly if needed.

Hi Chelsea
Do you mean any vandalism? No,no problem. We didn't put our usual display of Christmas lights up though!
We did have a conversation with our house insurer about my husband's conviction ( though we don't have actual sentencing until next month). They made a note of it but didn't make any changes to cost. Don't know if we'll get penalised when the policy is up for renewal but if so we'll shop around a bit.

We live in a close knit community and everyone knows each other, I am so scared if or when it will come out. As he's moved to another town I'm praying nothing is mentioned about living in our village
Judith,
I would read one one threads about insurance, some company's won't insure with a criminal in the home and some have had insurance cancelled and then it makes difficulty to get new insurance as you have to declare if you have ever had a policy cancelled or declined. Unlock is also good for this info.
there are car insurers who won't ask and others who are happy to insure I've heard of home protect from Lee
