Hi,
have really suffered with Anxiety and Depression since all this started last April.
It gets worse after any social services meeting, even after if it well. I just can't stop thinking about the situation we are in. Has anyone got any tips on how to deal with?
I have been having counselling weekly, which has helped a little and good to talk/ get advice from someone independent.
Just thought I'd reach out to you all.

Hiya,
it's worth looking at some breathing and grounding techniques to help with periods of anxiety. Are you on any medication? It maybe worth speaking to GP.
also ring the helpline if you feel talking helps, nice to talk to a stranger x

Yes, I'm on Mirtazipine. I'll have a look into the breathing. Thank you
I find exercise helps, I run and clear my head and feel more energised after. I sometimes find myself not thinking about things for a while.
i love being outside, it makes me feel less anxious, gives a sense of freedom.
could you go out for a walk? If you are anxious to go on your own, ask a friend to go with you, I have a friend who walks with me, it's good therapy. She doesn't know my situation so i tend to turn the conversation to her....and I listen and walk. it might help.
Take care x

I've been following this thread hoping to see something that will help.
I find my anxiety goes in peaks a troughs. It's been pretty bad for 2 weeks but seems to have got better this last week.
I'd agree that getting outside could really help and exercise. I normally do a lot of exercise but just can't bring myself to do it at the moment but I found even just getting out for a 15 minute walk a few times a day really helps.
If you can find a safe space with someone you can talk to, I think that helps too. I'm very lucky to have one and once I've offloaded and reminded that I'm not alone, it feels better, but it's also nice to just see them and not have to worry about conversation going somewhere I don't want to. There are a select few other people that know I'm simply going through something tough and don't want to talk about it yet, they respect that and I've become excellent at talking solely about other people's lives - Appreciate this isn't always easy as your head is whirling away thinking about all kinds of things going on in your own world.
The other thing I find helpful is a trying to stick to a simple daily routine. And reading too - I can't think about other things, be on my phone researching outcomes or looking at this forum (which does sometime trigger my anxiety) whilst reading.
Perhaps have a think about if there are certain things that trigger your anxiety and whether or not there is something you can do to avoid that trigger?
The other thing I find helps is a good podcast, I'm currently going through a backlog of one I my favourite comedians - Almsot feels like they are my friend, keeping me company on long car journeys or when I can't cope with silence or music.
Hope some of the comments help you and hope you are feeling at least a little better.

Running/walking works for me, as does yoga (Yoga with Adriene on youtube is good). I'm lucky enough to have a horse and I find the routine of caring for him is helpful, as i the physical aspect and being outdoors.
I used to enjoy silence and my own company but I struggle with that since this journey began as I just have endless 'chatter' in my head, so now I listen to lots of podcasts on BBC Sounds or Spotify - it stops me thinking too much. There are also lots of meditation podcasts out there, I use one to help me sleep and I like the rainfall ones as they're soothing.
Take care xx

My anxiety hits the roof when meetings are pending too. Then I overthink everything I said and if my words could be taken the wrong way. It's so unfair we have to deal with this when we have done nothing wrong
Jayjay, exactly the same here, I had an email from my sw today n as soon as I saw her name my anxiety rocketed, its just horrible.
We have done nothing wrong yet our lives, feeling and thoughts are put under a microscope.

My heart used to sink when the phone rang . My stomach would turn and my legs would shake x it does get easier . Be kind to yourselves , have a bath and relax . If you need to stay in bed for a day do it . Watch something you enjoy on TV . It's ok to laugh x
