Half way through prison

I still read things on here , it's a long time since I posted anything tho . My son was arrested in Jan 2019 . He was eventually charged . He had been talking on GRNDR . To cut a long story short he was going to meet a lad . Then the lad said he was a child abuser . My lad got into something he couldn't get out of . Couldn't really understand why .after the arrest we were distraught . It took a further 6 months for him to tell us he had been raped by an older family friend over 200 times . He said he didn't want it to happen to anyone else . He didnt want to stop talking to the guy and didn't know what to do , he exchanged one photo to keep in contact with the lad . He was unanimously found guilty . We paid over 20 grand for solicitor . Would I pay that again absolutely not . I think you're already banged to rights . My lad received 3 and a half year sentence for a conversation over a few days and one photo . There is hope , he's half way though his sentence . He's on a VP wing . And he's doing ok . We visit . He's settled down and has sown counselling. All of his mates have stood by him. I know it's hard and the waiting is horrendous that was the worst part . The fear of the unknown . That's what gets to your brain . You will all be ok . You will I promise . I just wanted to share

It does get better x I thought my life was over and our family would never be the same x

So glad your sons friends ha e stood by him that is so important
My sons best friends that have known him since he was 12 have cut him off but I hope in time they remember him the guy they knew and loved and come back in to his life but if they dont my son has to respect there desion xx

I wish they could see and remember the friend who they loved and I know how much having there support would help my son but we have to respect how they feel and hopefully in time they will be there for him x
This journey is horrendous and bad days out weigh the good ones but we have to live with hope because if we give up who will be there to show our Sons and partners there is something to keep going for xx

It really is comforting to read how well your son is doing and gives me hope for my son once he is moved but that is down to what he is sentanced to will determine what prison but to be honest just him been moved from remand has got to be a bit better ( well I hope it does)

My OH says he read an article recently in the Inside times (prison newspaper), which was themed as helping sex offenders find work, but it ended up making him feel really down as it was only full of all the negatives about looking for work in his situation. I do hope there is some signposting to these professionals you speak of who can help them find work!
Let's hope so Busy..... my son will have to begin again for sure - he won't go back to his previous employment.
