Will life ever be the same again?? Have to get home insurance - where to go?? Current insurers won’t cover convictions. Who to use, still need to be safe? If anyone has any recommendations would be really grateful.

Compare the market have a section re convictions: https://www.comparethemarket.com/home-insurance/content/criminal-conviction/?TrackerID=39700028025162065&opti_ca=981566292&opti_ag=51321703409&opti_ad=232150537080&opti_key=aud-310960819908:dsa-382918789410&&SRC=DE94&gclid=Cj0KCQjw7sDlBRC9ARIsAD-pDFotZnt3soGN61Oa4kgxUVQEafpKiQlUYBW6kzMQQ50vpuKwyLZDdwsaApbpEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

If that's no good, perhaps try speaking to a broker? They only make their money from placing your business, so it's in their interest to find you a policy. London and Country provide free advice, so could be a good company to turn to xx

I am guessing you live on the same house as your husband. My mortgage is still in both our names but the home insurance is only in my name? To be fair he no longer lives with us. So don’t know what your situation is.

in answer to your question I hope life will be okay again. It will certainly be different but I have hope it can be a new kind of normal and we can survive one step at a time. Welcome to the forum. I hope knowing your in a community of others help you feel less alone. I know what you mean about sorting the home insurance. It’s lots of little reminders of how easy things once were. But I do hope we will all get through thisxx

Yes this is another of those little things that eminds you like a slap in the face that life is difficult from now on. Something as simple as home insurence is now a hassle as lots of companies wont cover someone with convictions. All those years of being a good customer and being able to get a great deal all gone. I too need to search for new insurers.

There are certain companies that don't ask about convictions. If they don't ask you don't tell. Most if them you have to contact directly. We had problems with car insurance as they take in to account any conviction not just motoring, in my opinion its ridiculous as it isn't relevant. You can Google "insurance when you have convictions" and it should bring up a list.

Hi. We found Home Insurance through Home Protect. They were very helpful and the premium was reasonable.....plus it went down after a year! Car Insurance we did through LV - they don't ask about anything other than motoring convictions. Good luck.

Hi all, I’m going to contact the foundation, but can I recommend you don’t click on the link demixl posted? I haven’t, but I’m cautious that we’re all on here because of close ones’ activity online. Without knowing who people on here really are, I’d suggest we maybe don’t click any links. Just in case! It may be genuine but I think we all need to be cautious in case it links to anything which would worsen our situations further. Xx

Jayne G,

I agree, looks like a couple of dodgy posts. Maybe the foundation will check them out.

Dear all,

It is great to see that this forum has become a place for you to share practical advice regarding home insurance and how this is affected by convictions, as well as continuing emotional support.

We have removed a post from this page which was advertising private taxi insurance, as the forum rules state that advertising is not permitted on the forum. This forum is designed to be a safe space where the family and friends of those who have been accessing indecent images of children can support one another, and subsequently posts which break forum rules, or seem to be inappropriate will be removed. However, please remember the Stop It Now! Helpline (0808 1000 900) is open Monday - Thursday 9:00-21:00 and Fridays 9:00-17:00, so if you wish to talk to someone about your situation but you feel it is not suitable for the forum please call the helpline.

Thanks,

Lucy

Haven’t been on here to post for a long time now but am full of rage which had subsided but due to the following has reared its ugly head again: had to renew house and car insurance today - both of which now needed to have my ex removed from and because of this are now MORE expensive. I am deemed no longer as safe insurance wise for my car if I am not living with a common law spouse as I was and more for the house insurance as only one adult in the house - way to go to suppprt single parents! Just so angry as am single parent only through his actions. He hasn’t worked and therefor rapid anything towards his kids since March. Summer holidays are expensive even without us going anywhere on a holiday. Went to get school uniform today as 25% off sale at Sainsbury’s - don’t particularly want to do this with kids in tow but as just me now and family seeing summer as a break from school pick up duties to help me when working, i’m 100% on my own and gosh do I know it in terms of finances!!! Sorry - end of rant. Rosa xxx
