Hi, my brother had the first knock March 2020 and we are now just waiting for a letter for a date to go to magistrates court.. after 2 years we are finally out of what felt like a never ending limbo but Im terrified of whats to come!

Im just wondering if anyone could please share their experiences from going to the courts (good/bad) and what to expect when we are there or anything to prepare ourselves for before we go etc.

We have a solicitor on board and we know that we need to prepare ourselves for a potential hefty sentence.. but we still have hope and are in this together as a family.

Hope everyone here is doing well x

Just to add to lee1969's post, even if the magistrates do decide they can sentence, they will still refer it for reports so it's very unlikely that any sentencing will be done at the initial hearing - hence why it's usually known as a plea hearing.

Hello thank you so much for your replies

Im pretty sure that he is pleading guilty and its for 5 counts including "making" and distribution so we are going to prepare for the worst...

It still isn't registering in my head that we are going to have to deal with this in the near future.. its always just an elephant in the room when we are together, I want that letter to never come :(

How have others prepared themselves for the day at court and for a likely prison sentence? Taking on their payments maybe for car insurance etc? Coming off social media before court? What to pack in a bag for him? Etc. Feels like Im about to jump into a pool but without knowing how to swim if that makes sense lol.
I want to get myself sorted and understand everything so that I can be there to support my mum and brother, this forum helps me so much Im so grateful for everyone else sharing their stories on here x
