Hi, just wondering if anyone can help me, my ex husband has his court date and it's at the magistrate court, I've just been told there is no point going to that because all they will do there is refer it to the crown prosecution. Does anyone know if this is true. Thanks

Thanks for the reply, so the first court date I won't here what he has done. Will the judge give him the next court date or will it be sent to him? I don't want to go really but every time I'd ask him something all he would say is "i don't remember" so now I have to go to find out what he done exactly. I'm going in disguise because I don't want people thinking I'm there to support him, I just want the truth.

Oh ok, i think I'll go to both then. I'm so terrified, and suffer with really bad anxiety, but I have to do this! Xx

Hi Cher

I didn't go to magistrates court but I did go to crown court because I wanted to know exactly what had been going on.

It was really tough hearing it, it was so different from what he'd led me to believe and at sentencing it was really graphic, I heard in great detail what was on the images, the sites he'd been looking at, the ages of the children involved and the suffering they had gone through too.

While I don't regret it now it did make for a tough few days and I did imagine what was in the images, it was pretty horrific however, apparently it's pretty rare for the judge to be graphic and so down on someone but this judge, we knew after about 15 mins in that my husband was going to be given a custodial sentence just by the attitude of the judge. Saying this my husband was incredibly arrogant all the way through, even in court blaming all and sundry and this didn't help his cause;!

I don't regret going now as it has brought me so closure on that part but be aware it could be rough and please don't go on your own

Xx

Thank you Tracey, I'm going to take someone with me, I've earned them that we will hear some really horrific things, so hopefully we are prepared. I need to go for closure too. I'm worried if I dontgo to the magistrate court I won't know when the next court date will be, so have to take 2 days off work.

For me, first magistrates date told all of the charges (same as were on his charge sheet which he had told me the week before). Both his solicitor and CPS said could be resolved at magistrates and therefore next date is back at magistrates - I think it will go to crown from there but not sure. That was my situation. I went to know full details as although knew image numbers and categories from week before, still did not know if referred to teenagers as he had said it not. Was short and to the point. I took support and they wrote details down for me for us to talk through after as I knew I wouldn’t remember. Hope that helps.
